Could this be the job for you?

This job is perfect if you’re looking for supplemental income in a fun, non-office environment. If  you’re looking for a part-time job and are able to work when clients need you, you may be a good fit. You must be highly dependable as our clients depend on us to provide care to their pets. You must be committed.

If you know you’ll be moving, leaving for school, or otherwise not be available within this period, we would kindly ask you not to apply.  Please don’t apply if you are “in between jobs” and looking for short-term work.

We do not have 9-5 jobs. We don’t guarantee schedules, we work early mornings and evenings, weekends, and holidays. We can’t guarantee a set number of hours per week because we make assignments when our clients make reservations.

Must I have professional experience?

Not necessarily.  But you must be willing to learn all about dog and cat handling.  You’ll learn by doing as well as using an online training program.

What's the schedule like?

It varies.  Prior to hiring you will provide your availablity and we will schedule accordingly.

How do you pay?

We pay our sitters and walkers per completed visit. Once you factor in drive time to and from the client’s home, our team members generally make at least $16 per hour as a minimum but typically closer to $18-$20 depending on the type of visit and proximity of each visit.

Additionally you receive tips and holiday pay.

Is this job fun?

It certainly is but it’s not “I play with puppies all day!”  Walking dogs is hard work.  It’s physical.  You are out in weather you may not like.  It’s not social; you work alone.  Cleaning is a big part of the job whether it’s dog poop or litterboxes.  There’s a lot of driving… house to house.

But it’s very rewarding.  When that cat nudges you on the leg or a dog gives brings you a toy to play, you’ll be happy.   You have the ability to improve the lives of each pet you care for and endear yourself to their parents.

What are employee benefits?
  • Workers compensation insurance
  • Taxes withheld from paychecks – we handle the payment of your employment taxes to the government (no need to budget that end-of-the-year tax payment)
  • Bi-weekly pay through direct deposit
  • Bonding and general liability insurance
  • Referral bonuses
  • Flexible schedule
  • Small service area
  • Holiday pay
  • 100% tips
  • On-the-job training
Will clients contact me directly?

Clients make reservations through our mobile app. Our office will make assignments based on your availability and skill level. Clients communicate with our team members through the mobile app. Prompt replies to our clients are expected and rarely does communication take place outside of scheduled visit times. Most replies take just a few seconds, so while it’s a very important part of the job, it takes very little time.

Am I required to work all holidays?

Holidays can be very busy since many clients travel. We try to rotate our team members on major holidays, but this may not always be possible due to current staffing levels and client demand.
